Our vision statement:

"Empowering our community of learners to strive for excellence through effort and achievement."

As a PB4L school:
"At Stanmore Bay we aim to create a caring environment, developing respectful relationships with our school wide community (parents, staff and students), to improve social, cultural and academic outcomes.  To do this we will consistently model, teach, acknowledge and praise positive behaviours.”

Principal's Welcome

It is my pleasure to welcome you to Stanmore Bay School.  We are proud of our learning community and we see the education of our students as a partnership between home and school. We provide a caring, supportive environment for your children and we take pride in the fact our students are motivated, enthusiastic learners. Our school has a friendly, open door environment where parents are welcome and encouraged to be part of the learning process.

The school offers students a wide range of opportunities and places a strong emphasis on literacy and numeracy. In addition, we offer an After School Arts programme. We are also very proud to be a Silver Enviroschool.

Our school motto is “The Sky’s the Limit”, which epitomises our endeavours. We all strive to take on those extra challenges and do our best.

Harcourts Supports Their Local Kids

A generous grant of $5,147 from Harcourts Tandem Realty will provide much-needed counselling to help students cope with difficult circumstances. Director Karl Martinovich says his team is very pleased to be able to support Stanmore Bay School, with many friends and family having a connection to the school. The counselling service will benefit a number of students and have a positive spin off for their classmates and teachers. The wellbeing of our students is of greatest importance and we are very grateful to Harcourts Tandem Realty for allowing us to enhance our pastoral care programme with this counselling service.

About Stanmore Bay School

At Stanmore Bay School we provide a stimulating environment in which quality teaching and learning can be achieved. We encourage enthusiasm for life-long learning, and develop self-discipline, perseverance and confidence in our akonga. Stanmore Bay School is a PB4L school (Positive Behaviour for Learning). Read about how we achieve this here.

We are located at 30 Waiora Road in Stanmore Bay. Stanmore Bay is part of the Whangaparaoa Peninsula, 30 minutes north of Auckland. We are within walking distance to the beach, sports fields, leisure centre and public reserve. Our school is built on a hill in the centre of the Stanmore Bay community.

We are lucky to have a large sports field, three large courts, three playgrounds and a solar heated swimming pool. We have a multimedia auditorium, a hall and extensive library collection. Our music suite is well resourced with Orff tuned and untuned percussion instruments, as well as modern rock instruments and a practice PA. Classes have the opportunity to work in the tech suite taking part in kitchen chemistry and cooking. As an Enviroschool we have a fruit orchard, and recycling, composting and worm farm facilities.

Our school is made up of three Whānau:
Tui whānau  - Year 0 to 2
Korimako whānau - Year 3 and 4
Kāhu whānau- Year 5 and 6

Each whānau has an Associate Principal and Senior teacher who are responsible for monitoring the learning and progress of their year levels. The curriculum is designed by them in conjunction with curriculum teams, with staff working across the school to ensure continuity of programme and a smooth transition to each level of the school as the students move to the next whānau. We have single cell classrooms as well as two innovative learning environments (ILEs). In 2017 we will have an additional ILE built for the Tui whānau.
