Ngati Ruanui
I am a proud husband to Michelle Walker and dad to Josh (13) a former Stanmore Bay School student, Tyler (11) and Maia (7) who are both students of Stanmore Bay School..
I was born in Christchurch and we moved up to Auckland 12 years ago – living on the Coast for 8 years. My ancestral ties are to Scotland and Ireland through my dad and to Ngati Ruanui, Nga Ruahinerangi, Ngati Kahungunu ki Wairoa, Maniapoto, Tuhourangi through my mum.
My day job is at Microsoft, where I look after Cloud Solutions and Applications. I love helping our kiwi organisations on their digital transformation journey. I have also helped create a coding and software initiative via my tribe for our children back in Hawera Taranaki. I believe all of our children in Stanmore Bay School should be exposed to these technologies to help set them up for their future. I would like to help and support our school to do this.
I am fluent in te reo Maori and help run some of the powhiri up here on the Coast for our local marae as well as many of our schools. I am very passionate about seeing our te reo taught and used more in the classroom and the community. I would like to see this resourced better to help our teachers to do this.
Ultimately, I’m keen to support Matt and the amazing teachers of our school in their important work of enabling the best possible learning experience for our tamariki. I am proud to work with such a passionate team, great kids and awesome community.
Ko nga pae tawhiti whaia kia tata, ko nga pae tata whakamaua kia tina.
The potential for tomorrow exists in what we do today.

I have a special interest in the ongoing success of Stanmore Bay School and am enthusiastic in making a contribution to the school’s future. I attended Stanmore Bay School as a student and have had an ongoing association, with my wife now working at the school and my daughter attending as a student. My mother also spent eight years working at Stanmore Bay School, as both a teacher-aide and the school librarian.
After leaving Stanmore Bay School, I studied at Orewa College, before commencing tertiary studies (bachelors and masters) at the University of Auckland. Following this, I was awarded the Top Achievers Doctoral Scholarship to complete my PhD in Biology at Massey University. After spending a year in London, Ontario (Canada) completing a post-doctoral fellowship, I returned to Massey University as a member of staff, lecturing both undergraduate and graduate students, as well as completing research.
As such, I am familiar with the skills that students need at a tertiary level to succeed and I would like to see Stanmore Bay School students given every opportunity to advance on their educational journey with the necessary prerequisites for future success.

My name is Angeline Selman, I am married to Tom and we have three children. One son is a former Stanmore Bay School student and our youngest son and daughter attend Stanmore Bay School. I have lived on the Coast for almost 30 years. After my OE, my husband and I settled in Stanmore Bay to raise our children. Stanmore Bay is a very special place and I feel extremely lucky to live in such a wonderful community.
My professional life has included nursing and midwifery, and I currently work part time as a midwife at North Shore hospital. My career has given me valuable experience working in partnership with people, good organisational and communication skills, critical thinking and decision-making abilities. I will draw on these skills within my role on the Board of Trustees.
I am passionate about ensuring every child feels safe, healthy and happy within their school life - thus optimising their educational and social development potential. I am excited about my role on the Board of Trustees and helping to shape the future of Stanmore Bay School.

I grew up on the Coast from age 12 and have watched the huge changes over the decades, it's grown dramatically in recent times. After traveling and living away for many years I chose to return here as a place for my family to grow up and gain their education.
My wife and I have 3 children, with my youngest daughter having finished at Stanmore Bay School in 2022.
I work in IT and have performed various management roles over the last 15 years, moving away from the more technical side.
This is my third term on the Board, I was seconded five years ago and now elected on twice. Being a member of the Board is one way that I can contribute to help guide yours and my children’s education. Our role is about effective governance and ensuring we have the best resources we can for the students and staff.
I look forward to spending many more years of involvement with Stanmore Bay School, both supporting and also challenging the governance and decisions, so we can deliver an educational environment, which nurtures our children’s growth and aspirations.

I have a Bachelor's Degree in Media and Advertising and I've been working in this exciting industry for 14 years. Starting my career in Radio, I worked in all areas of the business from producing, and event management to Sales. For the past 4 years, I've worked in Digital Advertising at Trade me as a key publisher in the NZ market. With a keen interest in Education and continued learning, I was a board member of AMASA (Advertising Media Association of South Africa) for 4 years. I managed the Education Portfolio to facilitate the grooming of young talent within the media industry. I was also the parent member on the board for Lady Buxton Pre-primary and Educare centre for 1 year while both my kids attended the school. I am experienced in growing and managing key stakeholder relationships as part of my Business Development and Account Management function, as well as bringing along key communication, Marketing strategy, and time management skills. I look forward to working with the board to achieve our goals at Stanmore Bay School.

Hello, kia ora, and namaste. My name is Bhavya Raghavan, and I am the mother of a Stanmore Bay School Year 2 student. I am running for School Board Parent Elections because I am enthusiastic about our children's education, as well as the experiences and values they get from it.
I believe in open communication between the school and the families of the students who attend, as well as the larger community in the neighbourhood. I will actively promote and be a voice for our children’s educational environment representing inclusion and diversity, whether it be racial, social, cultural, or recognition and respect of individual capacity. Taking a comprehensive approach to helping with our children's education will allow us to empower them now so that they may face tomorrow with confidence, awareness of their own potential, and belief in their own achievement.
To ensure that the teachers can continue educating the children without interruption, it is also imperative that we pay close attention to them and provide them with the resources they need.
My family moved to New Zealand just as I was approaching my adolescence. I went to intermediate and high school in South Auckland before moving to Central Auckland to begin my college degree and moved to Stanmore Bay a year ago with my little family. My career is established in the construction industry as an Estimator which has presented me with incredible possibilities for growth and learning, despite holding a Bachelor’s in Health Science with a major in Psychology. My personal interactions with various educational providers have been quite varied, first in my native country, then as an immigrant, and finally as a young adult trying to find my path. But the assistance and resources made accessible during that era of an individual's life, particularly in the early years of getting formal education, stand out the most to me.
I would be thrilled to have the opportunity to serve on the Board and represent the children, parents/caregivers, and the wider community in order to ensure that Stanmore Bay School remains a fun, safe, and positive environment as we continue to support our Tamariki on their journey to becoming leaders in their own right. My objective is to be an active and informed representative in the Board's many diverse areas of improvement, concern, and challenges.
